Hair Clips

Last year for a couple of School Fairs  I went mad with a girlfriend and made lots of Flower Hair Clips
Which sold like hot cakes.

I still had some clips left over but I could not face making another flower.
So I had a little play and I ended up doing some heart hair clips

and with Easter coming I could not resist making this little bunny.

Feather Crown

This last week I have been making feather crowns.
I got the inspiration from Lori Marie and her blog
"Pretty Little Things"
http://prettylittlethings.typepad.com/lori_marie
Last year I hand dyed a load of felt with my girlfriend and this
seemed to be the perfect way to use up some of this felt.
I both machine stitched and hand stitched these crowns.

I had a modelling session with Master O
(as you can see from the pictures we had a bit of fun).

Knitting

Master O has been quiet challenged on the knitting front.
He started to learn to knit around the middle of last year in his Handwork class at school.
By the end of the year his desk top had managed to accidentally land on and break 3 sets of knitting needles.
Master O was way behind his class mates with his knitting projects.
So this year I said we would do three rows of knitting an afternoon.
On Tuesday he came home very proud of his first knitted creation.
A bean bag for throwing at his mother!

We have now started on a Gnome.
We started off by casting on 22 stitches. After 4 rows we some how had ended up with 44 stitches.
We are back to 22 but I think we still have a long road ahead of us.
But good on Master O he never gives up!

Party

The Party for our Wedding Anniversary has now been and gone.
We spent all day getting everything ready.
The weather was on our side and we had a beautiful full moon to light the sky.
Flowers from Meryl's garden decorated our food table and the night was a big success.
We crawled to bed in the wee hours.

Here is a special song by Helen Austin for Mr O

More Bunting

Mr O and I are having a party on Saturday night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversay.
We have been married 13 years.
Here we are on the big day.
I have been making bunting to decorate the house and garden.
Tonight I just hung the first string.
Whats it made from I here you ask?
A vintage sheet I bought for $4.50 and a skirt I wore to my 40th Birthday Party!
(I wont tell you how many years ago................... )

Bunting

Today I hung some new bunting on my front porch.
I love to have bunting on my front porch it is so welcoming.
But the sun and the rain slowly fade the colours, so it needs replacing every six months or so.

This bunting I recycled from a dress I got in a boxing day sale many years ago.
A pink skirt I bought from Salamanca in Spain before Master O was even a twinkle in his Daddy's eye plus some left over material from the curtains I made in my bedroom.
Everything tells a story!

Right Now

People have been asking what am I working on right now :
I have made some more doll blankets.
I am washing some vintage sheets that I plan to cut up and make bunting for a party we are having this weekend.

Master O has decided he no longer needs his train table and Thomas trains (He is too old for them). So I was cleaning out his toy draws to find trains when I found these old finger puppets I had made him several years ago.

Master O was so excited and has been playing with them since.
Some things you just never grow out of.

While all this is going on I am listening to Bebel Gilberto.
Whose song "Samba Da Bencao" was in the sound track to the movie "Eat Pray Love".
Heres the link if you want to check out her beautiful voice:

Doll Blanket

Over the past few years I have been collecting recycled wool blankets.
My craft cupboard is now bulging and I have had to put a stop on buying any more blankets. I am determined to use them all up. So today I set out to design a Dolls Blanket. I had visions of making my own bias binding and trimming the blanket in homemade bias binding
Unfortunately the sewing machine and I had words and I had to go back to the drawing board. I ended up with a different design from what I had first envisioned in my head but I have to say I like it more that what I had first thought of.

I used a lovely recycled blanket in soft pinks and greens, the back I have lined with Calico.

Across the top a strip of beautiful fabric on which I have stitched hand dyed felt flowers and leaves.

.All ready to wrap around some little girls precious doll.

Etsy

Today I set up my Etsy shop and in the process I learnt how to use Gimp.....most exciting.
I renewed my PayPal account and I sent two new Meryl Bunnies off to market.

I am sure I took three times longer to do it all than most computer savvy people but I got there in the end............................yippee!
If you want to take a peak you can link to my Etsy Shop on my side bar .

I am so excited I just got a lovely email from Etsy to say I made the Etsy Treasury page .
What an honor, and a great way to start ( you can see it at the below link).

Tea Towels

Not many people know this but I love vintage tea towels.
They seem to have so much more personality.
Yesterday whilst doing my food shop I took a quick break and dropped into the
Op shop across the road.
There I found this lovely 1970's Tea towel called " The Herb Garden".
I have washed it and its joined my stack of vintage tea towels ready to dry my modern pots!
