Summer Projects

A little while ago I mentioned that we were working on some projects around the house.
Here is a peak at some of what we have achieved.
Master O and I revamped with some paint
the draws in his bedroom.

We put a sofa in Master O's bedroom so he can relax and read
his huge book collection.
So far I have made just the one cushion for his sofa.
I have another in the pipe line.

Outside we are working on a couple of raised Planter Boxes.

Here are the boys putting Linseed Oil on the wood.

We still have a little way to go on this project.
But I promise to show you them again when they are finished

Last Day

Today was Master O's last day on school holiday.
We have had 6 wonderful weeks.
We spent the morning getting new crayons and pencils for school
plus all the other little bits and pieces he needed.
This afternoon we went for a lovely walk and an ice cream.
When we got home at 4pm I suddenly realised I had not made him
a new larger pencil case for the year.
I had, had all these grand plans............where did the time go!

When I consulted Master O he said he wanted a Kiwi Bird
on his new pencil case.
So I quickly whipped one up.

Keeping with the Kiwiana theme.
I lined the pencil case with some Pohutukawa fabric
that I had in the cupboard.

Finishing it off with a lovely green zip.

Master O was very happy.
Sometimes the best things are the last minute things!

Changes

2013 will hold some changes for me.
I plan hopefully to work smarter not harder!
I have got to the point where I cannot do all my applique by hand
as I just cannot keep up with demand.
So my new designs will be a mixture of machine and hand applique.
I struggled with this as I am a purists at heart.
But I have to say number of people have not even noticed the difference.

My blog will be getting a face lift.
It has looked the same for the last two years and I feel
a change is due.

I am working on a new range
and it will include some new products.
People have been asking me for Ipad Cases, Kindle Cases,
Larger purses to hold wipes and baby essentials for the new mother.
And of course Cushion Covers!

There will be other changes but I will tell you more about them
another time.

For now here is a sneak peak.

Happy 2013

Hello and Happy New Year.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
I sure did.
My baby sister that lives in Abu Dhabi with her family came home
for Christmas.
For the first time in two years we had all my family together.
It was a very special time.

I have since been away at the beach.
I put all my sewing tools down on the 18th of December
and I have not picked them up yet.

I love this time of year.
I get to relax and think about all the things I want to
achieve and create
this year.

I get to spend holiday time with my boys.
We came home a few days ago and we have been working
on some projects around the house.
I will show you some pictures once they are finished.

Just before Christmas I had a crafty dinner with 4 close
crafty friends.
They are all friends I made in 2012.
These girls are a wonderful support to me.
We discuss all aspects of our businesses
and often give each other
great advice,
a shoulder to cry on in bad times
and a great laugh in good times.
Alice, Renee, Emma and Lizzie thank you
for coming into my life in 2012.

At our dinner we had a secret Santa,
we each had to make
one of the others a Christmas present.
I got the lovely Lizzie who
has a business called

Lizzie paints beautiful birds and animals in
watercolours.
So I made Lizzie a huge pencil case with a Lovebird out for a stroll on the front
in which to keep all her supplies.

Once I get my act together I will show you the wonderful present that I received.

PS: Other great news :
Mr O and I bought a wonderful camera in the Boxing Day Sales
So 2013 should be the year of the greatly improved photo's
.............................as soon as I figure out how to work
this lovely Canon.
